London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012
Between 17th - 22nd February London Fashion week at Somerset House opened - we wanted to bring to you some of our favourite bits from the event and what's hot for Autumn/Winter 2012. I have to say this years London Fashion Week was a fabulous one; London seems to have finally shrugged off the ‘quirky’ reputation it has gained over the past few years and come up with some gorgeous ranges that can actually be worn on the high street. What stood out to this year was the finales of the shows , we had Burberry creating a rain storm, Stella McCartney getting models to dance on tables and MCQ Alexander McQueen having a woodland as a backdrop.
Our favourite show had to be Anya Hindmarch with her ‘All I’ve Ever Wanted ‘ range. The show was something out of Charlie and the Chocolate factory or the Muppets but for accessories! It was truly amazing! Click here to see a snippet of the show.
So like New York Fashion Week we saw a strong look for military, infact Topshop and Burberrys whole look was pretty much based on this, leather panelling and bold prints as well as sequins, jewels and embroidered creations. These looks have been on both sides of the globe so will be interesting to see if Milan will follow.
I really liked Burberry’s range for next season using cute leather bow belts to create the hour glass look whilst MCQ Alexander McQueen used military style belts. We also saw lots of English style fabrics such as tweed and tartan.
Whilst the catwalks might have closed, Somerset House has opened its doors to the public between 23-26th February for London’s largest designer shopping event. Over four days British designers will be selling their collections with up to 70% off. Designers include Rigby & Peller, Jaeger, American Retro, Twenty8Twelve, Pringle of Scotland and more.
